Where are we now?

On June 26th the Chelan City Council voted unanimously to provide up to $20,000 in matching funds for a location study to determine the best physical and economic site for the regional aquatics and community center.  It was determined by Charles Sablan, Chelan Parks and Recreation Director, that a location study would cost from $35,000 - $40,000.  His research was based on similar studies done in the communities of Grandview, Selah and Yakima.  The independent determination of the best possible site is the crucial component to finalizing costs and creating an effective Capital Funding Plan.  We are eager to complete the study so the effort may continue to move forward without delay.

How can you help?
Currently the Lake Chelan Aquatics and Community Center Committee members are working diligently to raise $20,000 in matching funds. At this time, there is no grant funding available for a location study and we are seeking private donations. You can voice your support by making a tax deductable donation to the Lake Chelan Recreation Development Foundation earmarked “location study”.  Donations of all sizes are gratefully welcomed and several inspiring donations have already been received!
